You do not live in their house. You can still know their world.
Their parents are watching the milestones up close. You are watching from one generation back, and the right knowledge at the right moment is what turns a phone call into a connection.
When you know your grandson is in the middle of his why phase, you ask better questions. When you know your granddaughter just discovered her hands, you know exactly what to marvel at on the video call. That is not trivia. That is presence, by design.
How it works
Three steps, then it runs on its own
Tell us their birth month and year
One grandchild or several. Each one gets their own track.
We match the message to their age
Weekly texts from birth through three months, when development moves fastest. Monthly texts from four months through eighteen years.
You show up knowing
Each text gives you the milestone plus one way to use it: a question to ask, a game to play, a moment to watch for.

What a Milestone Message looks like
The Gran Life: Right on schedule, the first real social smile arrives around now. Not gas. Not a reflex. A smile that is for you. Get your face 8 to 12 inches from hers and earn it.
The Gran Life: At two and a half, pretend play is exploding. He can feed a stuffed bear or cook you dinner. Play along completely. Pretending with a grown-up who commits is pure gold to a toddler.
The Gran Life: Sixteen-year-olds are building identity by trying on opinions. When yours says something bold, ask what makes you think that before you react. Grandparents get answers parents do not.
Be in the know. Be present. Meet them exactly where they are.
Alison Richardson, MS, Founder, The Gran Life
A note on the science. Milestones are drawn from CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics developmental guidance and written by a founder with a master's degree in Human Development. Milestones are ranges, not deadlines, and every child has their own timetable. Because boys and girls develop on essentially the same track for most of childhood, messages are the same for both, except during the puberty years, roughly ages 8 to 14, when girls and boys genuinely diverge and you receive the version that fits your grandchild. Nothing here is medical advice.

Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. The Milestone Message is free. Your mobile carrier's standard message and data rates may apply, and those come from your carrier rather than from us.
How often will I get a text?
Weekly from birth through three months, when development moves fastest, then monthly from four months through age eighteen. That is it. No promotional blasts in between.
When will my first text arrive?
We are completing carrier registration for text messaging, which every business has to do before it can send. Sign up now and you are on the list. Your first text arrives as soon as that clears, and we will email you when it does.
Can I sign up for more than one grandchild?
Yes. Each grandchild gets their own track matched to their own age. You can add each one after signup.
Why do you ask whether my grandchild is a boy or a girl?
Only for the puberty years, roughly ages 8 to 14, when girls and boys genuinely develop on different timelines. For every other age the message is identical. The field is optional, and messages adjust to developmental stage rather than to any stereotype.
How do I stop the texts?
Reply STOP to any message. It takes effect immediately and permanently. Reply HELP for help.
What is the difference between this and The Gran Date?
The Milestone Message tells you what your grandchild is developmentally working on. The Gran Date gives you something to actually do about it, one idea on the 15th of every month. They pair well and many grandparents take both.
Pair it with The Gran Date
Know what they are working on, then know what to do about it. One idea on the 15th of every month, birth through 25.
