Before The Gran Life

This is not the first thing she wrote for someone she loves

In 1993 Alison wrote a book on social skills for her own daughters, registered it, and sold self-published copies through the back pages of Teen magazine. It was called Be Popular as a Prom Queen.

That same year she registered The Proverbial Tightwad Shopper: The Art of Efficient Home Management, a guide to running a household well on less, published through her own imprint. It was cataloged into the collections of the Library of Congress, where it is held today under LCCN 94103199.

Seven years later she rewrote the first book as Be Popular: True Class That Lasts, and that version was adopted as curriculum by more than twenty Texas independent school districts.

Three copyright registrations, two books, and one instinct that has not changed in thirty years. Find what people are quietly struggling with, work out what actually helps, and write it down plainly enough to use.

All three are searchable in the U.S. Copyright Office public records: TX0003557061, TX0003654081, and TX0005263825.

For the modern grandparent who wants to be the best version of themselves for their family, I am the ONLY guide who combines a master's degree in human development with the lived experience of a first-time grandmother to help you navigate the identity shift of modern grandparenthood, so you can show up as the grandparent your grandchild will remember for the rest of their life.
